Amanda Ava Koci also known as her stage name, Ava Max was born on February, 1994 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout her childhood, she entered in numerous singing contents and grew up listening to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. At the age of 14, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue her music career.
She debuted her single under her middle name Ava titled, Take Away the Pain in 2013. A couple of years later, Canadian producer and Dj duo Project 46 released a remix version of the song.
During the summer of 2016, she produced Anyone But You with Canadian record producer and songwriter Cirkut. Ava uploaded the single onto Soundcloud and it started gaining attraction. It eventually lead her to sign a record deal with Atlantic the following year.
In 2018, Max carried on working with Cirkut and released her singles My Way, Salt which was uploaded through Soundcloud, Sweet but Psycho, Not Your Barbie Girl and Slippin featuring Gashi. She did collaborations with David Guetta on the single, Let It Be Me for his album 7 and Witt Lowry’s Into Your Arms. Also, she was featured in Jason Derulo’s Make Up alongside Vice for Derulo’s album 2Sides.
Max’s Sweet but Psycho reached number one the U.K. charts for four straight weeks. On January 2019, it was at the top of the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart and released the follow up singles, So Am I, Freaking Me Out and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
A few months later, she was featured in American singer and songwriter, AJ Mitchell’s Slow Dance and released her latest single Torn. Max mentioned her upcoming album is going to be debuting soon. Her musical influences are, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Fergie and Christina Aguilera.
Max has been compared to Lady Gaga by the similarities in Ava’s music production and her fashion choices.
