Scottish electronic and synth pop band, Chvrches formed in 2011 with the current members, Martin Doherty (synthesisers, backing and lead vocals), Iain Cook (synthesisers, piano, guitarist, bassist backing vocals) and Lauren Mayberry (lead vocalist, drummer, backing vocals, and synthesisers). They spelled Chvrches with a ‘v’ instead of a ‘u’ because, their music can easily be seen through internet searches.
In 2012, they released their hit singles Mother We Share and Lies. The following year, they put out their first EP Recover through Glassnote Records. On September of the same year, they debuted their album The Bones of What you Believe which was certified gold in the UK.
Chvrches did a cover version of Bauhaus’ Bela Lugosi’s Dead for the film, Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters. They released their 2015 sophomore album, Every Open Eye which includes the singles , Bury It featuring Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Empty Threat, Leave a Trace, and Clearest Blue.
The following year, they did a collaboration with Solar Fields on the single Warning Call for the video game, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
From 2017 to 2019, Chvrches did a cover Call It Off for Tegan and Sera’s 10th anniversary album, The Con. They worked on and released their third album, Love Is Dead with producers Dave Stewart and Greg Kurstin. It included tracks such as, Graffiti, Never Say Die, Get Out, Miracle, and My Enemy featuring The National’s Matt Berninger.
Chvrches did a different rendition of their single, Miracle with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. They also collaborated with Marshmello on the track, Here With Me.
