Kelsey Byrne also known as her stage name, Vérité was born and raised in Orange County, New York 1990. Throughout her childhood, she started practicing on the piano and listened to 90’s alternative bands such as, Nirvana, and Green Day. At the age of 16, she started writing her own music.

Between 2012 to 2013, she collaborated with producer Elliot Jacobson and started working on music under the name of Vérité. The name Vérité means truth in French. She made a decision to pursue music full time after leaving her job in waitressing.

A year later, she released two singles Strange Enough and Weekend. She mentioned that her single, Weekend is about capturing nostalgic moments, and how temporary life lasts for.

Her first performance was at the Neon Gold Popshop in New York as well as, other performance gigs promoted by Neon Gold Records.

On October 2014, Vérité self released her EP Echo which features the title track, Weekend, Strange Enough, and Heartbeat. Two months later, she self released her remixed version of her EP and it included the Penguin Prison remix of her single, Weekend.

A year later, she put out her second EP, Sentiment with the tracks, Wasteland, Colours which was produced by Zach Nicita, Rearrange, and the title track Sentiment. She released her single, Sober and performed at festivals such as, the Firefly Festival and Lollapalooza. In 2016, she put out her third EP Living with the lead single Underdressed. Also, she did a cover of the 1975’s single Somebody Else.

From 2017 to 2019, she debuted her self-released album Somewhere in Between which features the tracks, Phase Me Out, Freedom of Falling, When You’re Gone and the title track. She did a collaboration with Phantoms on the single, Just a Feeling and released a remix version of Somewhere in Between. Vérité put out the singles gone and youth which highlights the aftermath of her previous album.

On the 25th October 2019, Verite independently released her sophomore album, New Skin with the singles, Gone, Think of Me and the title track of the LP.
